FlexGrid

Summary

In the future, the electrification of building heating and transport is posing a huge increase on electric energy demand, which the existing distribution grid is unable to provide. Additionally, more energy should be generated from intermittent sources such as solar and wind energy. This project is about solving these challenges through a smart building energy management system which integrates solar energy, electric vehicle and stationary storage charger, and a heat pump. The system optimizes it operation based on forecasts of solar energy/load and real time electricity price, such that the cost of energy is reduced and local solar energy usage is increased. Furthermore, it provides support services to the grid using V2x and B2x.
