The Solarcamp project aims to demonstrate how V2G and smart charging can be used to optimize the usage of renewable energy on a local auto-consumption grid. This experimentation has been deployed in France at the Aix-En-Provence TGV train station with the objective to optimize its local energy consumption but also to prevent from recurrent blackouts that occurred in the past. The solution, developed by a startup called Bovlabs, consists in deploying a blockchain platform that is connected to all the distributed energy resources of the local grid: V2G EV charger, solar panels, ground battery storage, station grid and the main grid. Many functionalities of the Bovlabs platform have been tested during this experimentation: energy flows origin and tracking, energy optimization using smart charging algorithms and V2G, secured transactions through blockchain and edge computing technologies, energy services (i.e demand response) and token generation that could be used in the future to retribute energy providers (i.e. V2G car owner).
