The uYilo eMobility Programme in South Africa was established in 2013 to enable, facilitate and mobilise electric mobility in South Africa, and Africa at large. The Smart Grid EcoSystem provides an EV-Grid Interoperability facility with multiple stakeholders and partners. The facility is Africa's largest dedicated EV charging facility, and most technology advanced. It includes, - Solar energy Generation - Storage through second-life EV batteries in stationary applications - Distribution through multiple charger network (AC charge points, DC fast chargers) - Vehicle-to-Grid Ancillary Services - Energy Management System - IEC 61850 Smart Grid protocol
